Ban the Box: Criminal History Screenings and Minority Students

The objective to “ban the box” is in alignment with MSiA’s mission to support educational opportunities for all students.  As this article indicates, criminal records have not served as effective indicators of violent behavior on college campuses.  Further, due to institutional racism in the criminal justice system, African American and Latino men are disproportionately affected by criminal history screenings.
