People from Across New York State Gather for the From Crisis to Triumph: Men of Color Symposium

The From Crisis to Triumph: Men of Color Symposium was excellent. Many members of MSiA joined ESC Education4All, Empire students, faculty, administration, and the community to hear a diverse panel on a crucial societal issue. Tanya Thompson and Omar Richards executed a quality and well attended event. They are an example of the dynamic student body at Empire State College.  Below are photos of this thought provoking event!

The Symposium had an awesome panel of speakers who shared their personal and professional experiences with the criminal justice system.

SUNY Empire State College faculty and administration joined students and community members at the symposium.

The From Crisis to Triumph: Men of Color Symposium was both informative and inspiring.  ESC Education for All co-chairs Tanya Thompson and Omar Richards produced an incredible event!

Asians fastest growing Immigrant Population

Asians are the fastest growing immigrant population in this country.  A recent article published by the Center for American Progress outlines immigration, economic, and educational issues facing this demographic, which is comprised of numerous rich cultures, including:  Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese.

As we celebrate Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month this May, it is important to improve our knowledge about and appreciation for the multitude of heritages that augment our society.
